My favorite Disc Golf Artist

https://allthingsdiscgolf.com/les-white-leaves-stamp-disc-golf-design/ As an artist whenever I see logos or art, I always have two reactions: that's amazing and I tip my hat, or I can do better than that. When I got into Disc Golf I was instantly Drawn to the Innova DX discs because of the stamps. I bought a Wolf and A Destroyer because they looked awesome. What I did not know throwing drivers is very difficult for beginners, but that's not important. Soon after becoming totally obsessed with disc golf I started to find custom tournament stamps and eventually I came across the art of Les White and his Roc 3 design. I feel this is the best Roc design of the all. Now I'm getting inspired and I want to start designing discs. I reached out to Les on Facebook, and we have become friends. he is always there with and inspiring word and great advice. Thanks Les to helping me jump get into a new world of design, loving every minute of it. I shared a link to a great article about Les White's disc golf art and you know who get's a shout out at the end of the article. (You know who is ME!)

Tupelo Bay

Just played in my first ever Tupelo Bay Open, definitely not my last. Everyone told me how fun this tournament is and it did not disappoint. It was great to see so many of my NC disc Golf friends (Tim, Will, Chris, Jay, Bobby, Stick, Kevin), and like always I made a bunch of new friends (John, Jason, Kirk, Ben, Craig, Jay&Tyler, Aaron and Jonathan). Very well run and that just adds to the experience. Great job goes out to Kirk Yoo and everyone who helped put it together. If you have not played this tournament yet put it on the calendar for next year. Great disc design by Mike Inshco, as always. Loved it so much I grabbed an extra to throw. This was also my first opportunity to start spreading the word about Black Hare Disc Golf Designs. I was passing out my new stickers fresh from the printer. This will conclude My 2015 tournament season, but can't wait to get up to Raleigh in a few weeks to Winter Jam and start the 2016 season.

Innova Viking Remake

For a while I have wanted to remake the design for the Innova DX Viking. Not that I don't like the art, but it's a Viking and I love Norse anything. I had some various concepts like a Biker Viking, but came back to a traditional Berserker Viking. Let me state that this project is just an exercise, Innova hasn't called for my art yet. If anyone at Innova sees this, would love a shot of an artist series disc. I plan on more redesigns soon, check previous posts for the Mace and Tursas designs. Enjoy.

If you need disc golf art work please contact Benjamin Hopwood at Black Hare Disc Golf Designs.

Louisiana State Disc golf Championship

Recently I designed the Louisiana State Disc Golf Championship logo and disc. I got hooked up by the man Les White with Shawn of Soaring South Disc Golf and away we went. Shawn wanted a creepy swamp with an alligator and a pelican. I did a black & white and a color version. Here are some of my reference photos and a lot of art, and few examples of discs and a t-shirt that were printed. Once again if anyone needs a =ny design work let me know. Just shoot me an email: ben72hopwood@gmail.com Enjoy!

Thanks to  Matt Gill for asking me to do this Forest Hills Open logo. The bar stamp style was all Matt's idea.

Bakersfield Youth Disc Golf

I got to do a new logo for a budding youth disc golf program in Bakersfield, CA the BYDG. Thanks to a hook up by my favorite California Artist. He knows who he is. Special thanks to Gary he is a great guy and gave me a lot of room to do what I do and I think the end result is awesome. Went with a robot disc guy to make it fun for the kids. Who are we kidding I love robots and wanted to create a disc bot for a long time. I did a T-shirt design and a Hat. I also just did some scorecards for them. I hope you like it, more importantly I hope the kids like it.

PDGA 2016 Ace & Birdie Club Design Contest

It's time! I submitted my PDGA Ace & Birdie Club designs. I would really like to win both this year, so I designed them more as a set. I wanted to create a design that has not been used in this contest, at least not from the winning designs. With a simplified and bold 1 & 2 theme here are my Ace & Birdie Club design for 2016.
1 side note the guy in the Ace Club design is a good friend and Team Forest Walkers member Andy Kloiber.

This guy is a bad dude not just an Octopus

Okay, so I said the Tursas disc from Westside was next and here it is. I did some research to understand why Westside Discs used an octopus on this disc. I was pretty sure Tursas was a God. I was not wrong, Wikipedia says:"Iku-Turso (Finnish pronunciation: [ˈikuˌturso], "the eternal Turso"; also known as Iku-Tursas, Iki-Tursas, Meritursas, Tursas, Turisas among others) is a malevolent sea monster in Finnish mythology. Nowadays Meritursas means octopus in Finnish, named after Iku-Turso, but originally tursas is an old name for walrus while the more common term is mursu. However, it is more common to see the word Mustekala (lit. "ink fish"), the name of its Subclass Coleoidea in Finnish, for the octopus." From all that I decided to make the God version for this disc. Half Walrus man half octopus, all badass! I put in a couple sketches and a full color disc. Let me know what you think. Keeping with a Nordic theme Innova's Viking disc will be next.
