2016 USDGC Roc

Finally after many anxious months my 2016 USDGC Roc has been released. This is definitely my greatest Disc Golf accomplishment so far. Big thanks to Adrian and everyone over at Innova. I wanted to show the process I went through to capture the Lucha De Roc character. I was inspired to create a birdman because there has never been one on the USDGC Rocs. At least none that I found while researching. Obviously Hawkman was on my mind, but I had to get away from that look and deided to make him a Luchadore. Here are a lot of sketches including some photos of actual printed discs. Thanks again for all the support. I am working on a few new projects and a sequel to the Lucha De Roc, for next year's contest. Enjoy!

Revenge of the Thorns

Not every design ends up on a disc, sometimes they are just for promotion of the tournament. I am happy to lend my skills to those pursuits as well, especially when the Two Johns from Jersey give me a call. This tournament is called Revenge of the Thorns at Mercer County Park in NJ, just 15 minutes from where I grew up. My friend John Birkrem messages me that he needs an evil looking tree with thorns protecting a basket. I love it. right up my alley, and this what I came up with. Enjoy.

An unfinished project...

Shogun vs Monster disc is a project in limbo I guess, but I wanted to show off the art. This disc to was commissioned by Riverside Disc Golf in Wisconsin. I wanted to give the feel of the old Shogun Warriors from the 70's fighting a giant monster. This is a design for a full color dyemax disc. Originally I posted a pencil sketch of a giant robot on Facebook and got a call the next day to do this. Fingers crossed this disc gets printed. There was also a header card designed for packaging. Pencil sketch on the bottom was the original Facebook posted image. Enjoy.

15th Annual Buckhorn Open Disc

New disc design for the 15th Annual Buckhorn Open in NC. So I get a call to do a new disc by my boys at CADL. Super psyched! It was a really quick deadline, but I new I could get this done quickly. An Idea was already in my head before I got off the phone. A scenic look, all done in Illustrator. I drew it all with the mouse. Easy enough for bold graphic images like this. I did a black and white for the stamp and a color version for promotional use. If you notice the antlers have 15 points, for the 15th annual. Thanks to Jay and Ken and everyone over at CADL. Thanks for believing in me and my art. Here are both versions enjoy. I believe the tournament disc will be the new Innova Colossus. Added to Photos of printed discs.

My favorite Disc Golf Artist

https://allthingsdiscgolf.com/les-white-leaves-stamp-disc-golf-design/ As an artist whenever I see logos or art, I always have two reactions: that's amazing and I tip my hat, or I can do better than that. When I got into Disc Golf I was instantly Drawn to the Innova DX discs because of the stamps. I bought a Wolf and A Destroyer because they looked awesome. What I did not know throwing drivers is very difficult for beginners, but that's not important. Soon after becoming totally obsessed with disc golf I started to find custom tournament stamps and eventually I came across the art of Les White and his Roc 3 design. I feel this is the best Roc design of the all. Now I'm getting inspired and I want to start designing discs. I reached out to Les on Facebook, and we have become friends. he is always there with and inspiring word and great advice. Thanks Les to helping me jump get into a new world of design, loving every minute of it. I shared a link to a great article about Les White's disc golf art and you know who get's a shout out at the end of the article. (You know who is ME!)
